The CySA+ V3 exam (CS0-003) has a maximum of 85 questions with 165 minutes. The passing score is 750 on a scale of 100-900. Domain weights are: Security Operations (33%), Vulnerability Management (30%), Incident Response Management (20%), and Reporting and Communication (17%). CySA+ is valid for three years and requires 60 CEUs for renewal.
System and network architecture, log ingestion concepts, operating system security fundamentals, infrastructure and network visibility, IAM basics, encryption, and sensitive data protection. Understanding the analyst role in modern SOC environments, normal vs. abnormal activity, and the data sources used for monitoring and triage.
Analyzing malicious activity indicators across hosts, networks, applications, email, and cloud environments. Using tools and techniques such as SIEM, Wireshark, VirusTotal, pattern analysis, packet analysis, and basic scripting awareness with Python and PowerShell. Comparing threat actors, TTPs, intelligence-sharing concepts, hunting approaches, and process-improvement strategies for security operations.
Implementing asset discovery and vulnerability scanning approaches including internal vs. external, active vs. passive, agent vs. agentless, credentialed vs. non-credentialed, and static vs. dynamic methods. Interpreting scanner and assessment output, prioritizing vulnerabilities using CVSS, exploitability, validation, and asset value, and recommending mitigation, patching, compensating controls, configuration management, governance, and secure SDLC practices.
Applying attack methodology frameworks including cyber kill chain, MITRE ATT&CK, diamond model of intrusion analysis, OSSTMM, and OWASP testing guidance. Performing incident response activities across detection, analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery. Using playbooks, tabletop exercises, forensic concepts, root cause analysis, business continuity, and disaster recovery to strengthen operational resilience.
Creating and explaining vulnerability management reports, action plans, remediation inhibitors, and metrics/KPIs. Communicating incident declarations, escalation paths, lessons learned, root cause findings, and stakeholder updates. Final integrated review of all four CySA+ domains, hands-on scenario walkthroughs, performance-based question strategy, and exam-readiness guidance.
