The course covers all six domains: Cloud Concepts, Architecture and Design; Cloud Data Security; Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Security; Cloud Application Security; Cloud Security Operations; and Legal, Risk and Compliance.
There are no formal prerequisites to attend this course or to sit for the CCSP exam. However, CCSP is intended for experienced professionals working with cloud, security, governance, infrastructure, development, audit, or compliance responsibilities. To earn the CCSP certification after passing the exam, ISC2 requires a minimum of five years of cumulative, full-time information technology experience, with three years in cybersecurity and one year in one or more of the six CCSP domains.

The CCSP exam uses Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) and includes 125 questions with a 4-hour time limit. A scaled score of 700 out of 1,000 is required to pass. The six domain weights are: Cloud Concepts, Architecture and Design (17%), Cloud Data Security (20%), Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Security (17%), Cloud Application Security (17%), Cloud Security Operations (16%), and Legal, Risk and Compliance (13%). ISC2 allows up to four attempts within a 12-month period.
Cloud computing concepts, roles, characteristics, service models, deployment models, shared responsibility, and cloud reference architecture. Security concepts relevant to cloud environments, including identity, cryptography, network protections, virtualization security, resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, and functional security requirements. Evaluating cloud service providers against business, technical, governance, and assurance criteria.
Cloud data lifecycle concepts, data flows, data location, and storage architectures. Designing and applying data protection controls such as encryption, key management, hashing, masking, anonymization, tokenization, DLP, classification, labeling, retention, and secure deletion. Implementing discovery, auditability, traceability, accountability, and evidence handling for cloud data events.
Cloud infrastructure components, compute, storage, networking, virtualization, containers, and software-defined infrastructure. Securing physical and logical infrastructure, management planes, administrative access, workload isolation, segmentation, and configuration baselines. Assessing risks introduced by multi-tenancy, orchestration, APIs, and platform dependencies across IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid environments.
Secure software development lifecycle concepts for cloud applications, application design principles, testing strategies, identity integration, API security, and DevSecOps practices. Cloud operations topics including provisioning, change and configuration management, logging, monitoring, incident response, disaster recovery support, availability, and operational resilience. Applying operational controls to maintain secure and reliable cloud services over time.
Legal systems, privacy requirements, audit and assurance needs, contractual and procurement considerations, e-discovery, investigations, and cross-border data implications in cloud environments. Risk management, third-party assurance, compliance mapping, policy alignment, and governance considerations that shape cloud adoption and provider oversight. Final integrated review covering all six domains, CAT expectations, question interpretation, timed practice strategy, and certification-path guidance.
