The EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH v13) course is designed to help learners understand how attackers think, how ethical hackers assess systems, and how defenders can identify, reduce, and respond to real-world attack paths. The program covers the ethical hacking lifecycle from reconnaissance and scanning through exploitation techniques, web and wireless attacks, cloud and mobile security concerns, and core defensive countermeasures.
CEH v13 is structured across 20 modules and emphasizes both knowledge and applied understanding.
There is no formal prerequisite to attend this course. However, students will benefit from foundational familiarity with TCP/IP networking, operating systems, common security controls, and basic command-line usage. Prior exposure to security operations, system administration, help desk, networking, or cybersecurity fundamentals is helpful but not strictly required.

The CEH knowledge exam (312-50) is a 4-hour exam with 125 multiple-choice questions. The passing score uses a cut-score model that varies by exam form. EC-Council allows no waiting period before a second attempt, then a 14-day wait before subsequent attempts, with a maximum of five attempts in a 12-month period. CEH operates on a three-year ECE renewal cycle requiring 120 ECE credits.
CEH Modules 1-4: Introduction to Ethical Hacking, Footprinting and Reconnaissance, Scanning Networks, and Enumeration. Understanding ethical hacking phases, rules of engagement, legal and ethical considerations, attacker methodology, and common assessment workflows. Using reconnaissance, scanning, and enumeration concepts to identify assets, services, users, attack surface, and early-stage weaknesses while recognizing defensive controls and logging opportunities.
CEH Modules 5-8: Vulnerability Analysis, System Hacking, Malware Threats, and Sniffing. Assessing vulnerabilities, prioritizing findings, understanding exploitation workflow, privilege escalation concepts, persistence, and common post-compromise actions. Reviewing malware categories, packet-capture and sniffing concepts, system-level attack patterns, and the countermeasures used to harden hosts and detect malicious activity.
CEH Modules 9-15: Social Engineering, Denial-of-Service, Session Hijacking, Evading IDS/Firewalls/Honeypots, Hacking Web Servers, Hacking Web Applications, and SQL Injection. Analyzing user-targeted attacks, availability threats, authentication/session abuse, and evasion techniques used to bypass controls. Applying ethical hacking methodology to web servers, web applications, APIs, and injection flaws while connecting findings to mitigation, secure configuration, and remediation planning.
CEH Modules 16-19: Hacking Wireless Networks, Hacking Mobile Platforms, IoT and OT Hacking, and Cloud Computing. Understanding wireless attack paths, mobile platform threats, IoT/OT weaknesses, and cloud attack surfaces across major service models and common enterprise deployments. Relating offensive techniques to modern security architectures, segmentation, mobile defense, cloud hardening, container awareness, and operational resilience.
CEH Module 20: Cryptography, integrated review of AI-driven ethical hacking themes in CEH v13, and certification readiness. Reviewing encryption concepts, cryptographic weaknesses, attacks on cryptographic implementations, and where cryptography supports secure enterprise design. Final comprehensive review of all 20 CEH modules, exam strategy, scenario interpretation, practical-skills pathway planning, and the progression from CEH to CEH Practical and CEH Master.

TESTIMONIALS
What Our Students Say About
Intellectual Point
“I went in to Intellectual Point not knowing what to expect when studying for the Security+ Certification. The instructor I had was very good in breaking the concepts. He was also very helpful during the multiple review sessions prior to exam. The Simulations, and the sample exam questions definitely prepared me thoroughly for the exam. It was a big time commitment but well worth it in the end.”
“I had no IT experience and with 4 weeks I felt prepared to take the SEC + exam. Prem and Stephen are both very patient and explain the material in a way that keeps your attention. There are a lot of resources made available to help you.”
“I had an incredible experience at Intellectual Point. The instructors there are true experts in their field, and I owe my success in acing my SEC+ exam to their excellent guidance and teaching.”
“I've recently completed the Cyber Warrior Pathway, includes Comptia Sec+, CEH and CISSP courses at Intellectual Point, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Not only did I achieve a 100% pass rate on both exams on my first attempt, the instructors were truly exceptional.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. This course includes a CEH exam voucher as part of the training package offered by Intellectual Point. Candidates should still review current EC-Council exam scheduling and eligibility requirements at the time of registration.
This course is designed to align to the current EC-Council CEH v13 framework and certification requirements. Organizations and learners should confirm any official-authorized-training expectations that may apply to their exam path.
No formal prerequisite is required to attend the class. However, familiarity with networking, operating systems, and basic security concepts makes the material easier to absorb.
EC-Council lists the CEH knowledge exam as a 4-hour, 125-question multiple-choice exam delivered through ECC Exam and/or Pearson VUE-related delivery paths, depending on the candidate route. CEH Practical is a separate 6-hour hands-on exam in Aspen iLabs.
EC-Council indicates that the CEH knowledge exam uses a form-based cut score rather than one universal fixed percentage, so the passing score can vary by exam form. CEH Practical has a published passing score of 70%.
CEH teaches learners to think like an attacker within legal and ethical boundaries. It helps students understand how adversaries recon, scan, exploit, evade, and target modern environments so defenders can harden systems more effectively.
CEH is well suited for learners who want broad ethical hacking coverage across reconnaissance, web, wireless, malware, mobile, IoT/OT, cloud, and cryptography before pursuing deeper practical tracks such as CEH Practical, CEH Master, or CPENT.
